Junior Section

Junior Golf 

The junior committee meet on a regular basis to organise and develop junior golf at the club.  It works in close partnership with local organisations such as Eden Valley Schools Sports Partnership, and also national organisations such as England Golf and the Golf Foundation. There are excellent facilities on offer with an 18 hole course, 9 hole junior academy course, 3 hole practice area, putting green, chipping green and undercover driving range.

The junior membership is excellent value; our junior cadet membership is for juniors aged 11 and below is £10 and junior membership for those aged 12-18 years is £50. Golf clubs can be provided to juniors who require them.

The Junior Captain for 2025 is George Parkes.  He attends Ullswater Community College and has represented the County.  George has worked extremely hard to achieve a very low handicap and is looking forward to his year in office.  He is a member of the junior committee.

Junior Golf Programme 2024

The junior committee will be organising weekly coaching sessions to run through the summer months between April-September. A new initiative has also included some winter coaching at Penrith Golf Hub which has provided an opportunity for juniors to continue with their golf in winter.

Registration takes place at 5.30pm and the coaching concludes at 7pm. Coaching sessions will
then continue on Monday evenings. These coaching sessions are open to both members and non-members. It is all about enjoyment and having a go at golf in a fun way. There are a number of junior competitions offering different formats throughout the summer with 4, 9 and 18 holes to allow all juniors to take part.

It is hoped that there will be a junior team competing in the Cumbria Junior League where matches are played against other clubs at junior level. The SIXES format which has been recently introduced will be continued providing an opportunity for less experienced junior players to compete in a team format.  The junior fund raiser which has always been well supported by members will take place in May.  This provides valuable financial support to the junior section.
